Being a carer is a very rewarding experience. When you have finished your shift, you know you have made a positive difference in someone’s life.

Denise shares some of the special moments in her day as a personal care worker at Prestige. Before becoming a carer, she had worked at a bank 28 years. After retiring, Denise decided to return to the healthcare industry. She had worked as a nurse’s aide and wanted to continue making an impact in people’s lives.

“I love it, it’s a very rewarding job. I just like to help people and I tend to make friends with my clients, we have a great rapport.” 

Denise really enjoys the companionship part of the role and helping clients stay active with their community.

“And there are some that don’t get that connection with people. I think when you take someone out of the house they enjoy themselves, and they are happy to go home and know you are going to come back. I think that’s pretty special.”
