Have you ever considered a career in home care? With 20 per cent of the population expected to be aged over 65 within the decade, and 76 per cent of Australians aged over 60 preferring to retire in the comfort of their own home, there’s a greater demand than ever for home care workers.

Home care covers a wide range of roles: Personal Care Attendant, Home Care Attendant, Disability Support Worker, Registered or Enrolled Nurse, Domestic Cleaner, Home and Garden and Maintenance Worker, and more. Meaning there are opportunities for people with and without experience to join the industry and make a real difference in the lives of others.

2. Opportunities for everyone

If you’ve worked in aged care or disability support previously or have just completed your studies, depending on your qualifications, there are opportunities to start as a Personal Care Attendant, or Registered or Enrolled Nurse right away. 

Have you previously cared for a loved one? 

Whether it be an ageing parent, grandparent, or someone with a disability, this lived experience is also considered for Personal Care Attendant roles.

A Personal Care Attendant supports their clients with their daily living needs. Which may include hygiene and grooming assistance, domestic duties, companionship through games and activities, and escorting to and from social outings and appointments.  

Don’t have any experience? 

You can start your career in home care by joining Prestige Inhome Care as a Home Care Attendant. A Home Care Attendant carries out domestic duties around the home and provides companionship to their clients.

You can progress to a Personal Care Attendant through completing your Certificate III in Individual Support or Certificate IV in Ageing Support while you work as a Home Care Attendant. This typically takes around 12 months, if studying full-time.

Prestige Inhome Come Home Care Attendants may be eligible to complete their Certificate IV in Ageing Support through our
Prestige Academy.

Are you currently studying nursing? 

You can work as a Personal Care Attendant or an Enrolled Nurse, if you have your Diploma of Nursing and are studying a Bachelor of Nursing. Either pathway will benefit you as you’ll gain valuable industry experience while completing your studies.

For those who have previously worked in domestic cleaning, landscaping, or home maintenance roles, there are opportunities to support client’s home and garden maintenance needs. Experience and qualifications vary across locations.

3. Flexibility

As a Prestige home care worker, you can choose to work over weekdays, school hours, nights and/or weekends, giving you the flexibility to structure your week outside of your work hours as you please.

Our experienced service coordination team is available 24/7 to support you and will work with you to develop a roster of shifts that suit your preferences and availability. We’ll also place your shifts close to your home with clients that have been matched specifically to you, where possible.

4. Opportunities for ongoing development

It is our goal to equip our extraordinary team of home care workers with the skills and training they need to provide extraordinary care to our clients.
