A House Becomes a Home: Celebrating Community and Support in Geelong

There’s something truly special about watching a house become a home, and that’s exactly what happened recently at our Supported Independent Living (SIL) residence in Geelong.

September 1, 2025

To mark the occasion, our clients hosted a housewarming party, inviting family, friends and the entire Prestige Inhome Care Geelong team to join in the celebration. The evening was filled with laughter, music, and connection.

From karaoke singalongs and dancing, to classic fish and chips and a delicious cake, the event was a beautiful reflection of the vibrant, inclusive community we’re proud to support.

Family Feedback

But beyond the fun and festivities, what stood out most was the sense of belonging and goodness that filled the home, something that was deeply felt by the families of our residents.

One family member shared their gratitude, and their words are a reminder of the impact that compassionate, consistent care can have, not just on the individuals we support, but on their entire support network.

From the outset, we have felt a genuine sense of peace and relief, something we hadn’t experienced for quite some time. (Complex Case Manager) Alex has given us complete peace of mind through her clear communication, decisive leadership, and the trust she inspires in both her team and the families she supports.

Sincere thanks to Alex for her professionalism, dedication, and the high standard of care she models and expects. She has made a noticeable, positive difference to both the environment of the home and our confidence as a family member.

What is a Supported Independent Living House?

A Supported Independent Living (SIL) house provides ongoing help and supervision for daily tasks and household activities to people with disabilities who require support to live as independently as possible in their own home or a shared living arrangement.

It is a NDIS-funded support that offers staff assistance, to help with personal care, cooking, cleaning, and developing life skills.

Making Memories

“At Prestige, it’s a privilege to walk alongside our clients and their families, creating spaces where people feel safe, supported, and celebrated,” said Alex, Prestige’s Complex Case Manager, who manages the SIL House and planned the party with resident Wendy.

Relationships That Matter

“I’m incredibly proud to contribute to the team working behind the scenes of this home. Being part of the journey that brings success and happiness to the people living here is truly at the heart of why we do what we do,” said Prestige NDIS Team Leader, Melissa Young.
