Home care services allow for older Australians who prioritise their independence to remain living at home. 

Home Care Packages are funded either partially or in full by the Australian Government, ensuring that you or your loved ones are able to access the appropriate level of home care that is needed.

Whether you are looking for very basic care or high-level care, there are four Home Care Package Levels available that include a number of varying services that ensure you get the care you desire. 

What Home Care Package Levels Are Available?

My Aged Care Assessment Team determines whether you are eligible for a Home Care Package. They also identify what level of care is likely to be the most suitable for you.

There are four levels of home care that are available to the public:

● Level 1 – Basic care needs

● Level 2 – Low-level care needs

● Level 3 – Intermediate care needs

● Level 4 – High-level care needs.

Level 1

Level 1 Home Care Packages are ideal for people who have basic care needs.

A Level 1 package may include the following support:

● Personal care
● Domestic assistance
● Meal preparation
● Shopping
● Transport
● Social support

Depending on the assessed needs of the individual, you may receive up to $10,558 worth of Government funds per year.

Level 2

Level 2 Home Care Packages aim to support people who have fairly low-level care needs.

A Level 2 package may include the following support:

● Personal care
● Domestic assistance
● Loan of basic care equipment
● Social support
● Meal preparation
● Shopping
● Transport
● Social support
● Limited home & garden maintenance
● Basic nursing care

Depending on the assessed needs of the individual, you may receive up to $18,622 worth of Government funds per year.

Level 3

Level 3 Home Care Packages aim to support people who have intermediate-level care
needs.

A Level 3 package can include the following support:

● Personal care
● Domestic assistance
● Household assistance
● Aids and appliance assistance
● Social support
● Meal preparation
● Medication management
● Nursing support
● Allied health support
● Shopping
● Transport
● Social support
● Support when it comes to memory and/or behavioural changes

Depending on the assessed needs of the individual, you may receive up to $40,529 worth of Government funds per year.

Level 4

Level 4 Home Care Packages aim to support people who have high-level care needs.

A Level 4 package can include the following support:

● Personal care – this includes, but is not limited to, showering and dressing
● Domestic assistance – this includes, but is not limited to, laundry and cleaning
● Assistance with aids and appliances
● Social support
● Meal preparation
● Medication management
● Nursing care
● Allied health support
● Shopping
● Transport
● Support when it comes to memory and/or behavioural changes

Depending on the assessed needs of the individual, you may receive up to $61,440 worth of Government funds per year.
