Veterans’ Home Care

What is Veterans’ Home Care (VHC)?

Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) is a Department of Veterans’ Affairs program designed to assist entitled persons who need a small amount of practical help to continue living independently in their own home.

What services does VHC include?

Prestige nurses and carers can assist with:

  • Domestic assistance, such as house cleaning, laundry, bill paying and shopping from a list
  • Personal care, such as assistance with showering, dressing and grooming
  • Safety-related home and garden maintenance to minimise safety hazards around the home, such
as replacing light bulbs, smoke detector batteries
    and cleaning gutters
  • Respite care to provide a break for carers

Who is eligible for VHC?

DVA clients who have a Gold Card or White Card are eligible to be assessed for VHC services.

How do I apply for VHC?

For more information or to be assessed for eligibility, please contact the DVA Assessment Agency on 1300 550 450.

After assessment, eligible clients receive a Care Plan outlining approved services. Once you or your loved one has been assessed and approved to receive VHC services, you can choose Prestige Inhome Care to provide the approved services, in the comfort of your own home — available throughout Metro Melbourne and Geelong
