CHSP Extended until 2029
The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) was extended until 30 June 2029. Previously, the program was scheduled to fold into Support at Home in 2027. This means older Australians will continue to have access to CHSP entry-level services to help them live independently and safely at home. The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing will also consult on a long-term entry level program that works alongside Support at Home.

Changes to the Support at Home End-of-Life Pathway
Changes to the End-of-Life Pathway have been announced, introducing a second round of funding for participants who live beyond the initial 12-week funding period. This change aims to support continuity of care for older Australians and their families during a critical time and is scheduled to commence from early 2027.

Changes to Support at Home Personal Care
From 1 October 2026, approved personal care services under the Support at Home program have moved from the Independence contributions category to the Clinical Supports category, which requires no co-contribution payments.
This means that if you currently receive personal care services through Support at Home, you no longer pay an out-of-pocket contribution for those services.
