From 1 October 2026, approved personal care services under the Support at Home program will become fully government-funded. All personal care services on the Support at Home service list will move from the Independence contributions category to the Clinical Supports category. This means that if you currently receive personal care services through Support at Home and have available funding via the program that you will no longer pay an out-of-pocket contribution for those services.
Personal care services include daily tasks such as shower, dressing, eating, personal hygiene and assistance with self-administration of medication.
The Australian Government has made this change to better support dignity, hygiene and access to essential daily care for older Australians. Learn more here.
The change commences on 1 October 2026. It does not apply to services delivered before this date.
Are you on the Support at Home waitlist?
If you are currently on the Support at Home waitlist but are in need of personal care at home, you can opt to pay privately until your funding is approved. Prestige Inhome Care also provides private personal care services.
